NATURAL RUBBER |
NR |
Excellent mechanical properties, tensile strength, bending and compression. Excellent electrical insulator. Resistant to dilute acids and detergents. Maintains properties between temp. range of -50ºC to 90ºC. |
Poor behaviour against rust, ozone, solvents and temperature. |
STYRENE-BUTADIENE RUBBER | SBR |
Good mechanical properties. Resistant to ageing through heat and rust (with limits). Resistant to dilute acids. Maintains properties between temp. range of -50ºC to 110ºC. |
Poor behaviour against solvents and petroleum |
NITRILE |
NBR |
Good mechanical properties. Good behaviour in continuous use in temperature range of -25ºC and 110ºC. Excellent behaviour with grease, oils and aliphatic hydrocarbons. |
Poor ageing behaviour. Poor against attack by cos. products. |
SILICONE |
WMQ |
WMQ Weatherproof. The best insulator. Resistant to grease, oil and detergents. Maintains properties between temp. range of -60ºC to 230ºC. |
Few mechanical properties compared to other rubbers. |
POLYURETHANE | PUR |
Rigid foam with various densities. Excellent thermal-acoustic insulation. Waterproofing. Excellent mechanical properties. Good behaviour against abrasion and tearing. Maintains properties between temp. range of -40ºC to 90ºC. |
Quite sensitive to humid heat and water vapour. Swells in response to chlorinated aromatic hydrocarbons, ethers and ketones. |
VITON® | FPM |
Outstanding resistance to chemicals. Maintains properties between temp. range of -30ºC to 250ºC. High flexibility without any loss of long-term properties. Heat and flame resistant. |
Conductive. Low flexibility. High cost. |
NEOPRENE |
CR |
Good mechanical properties. Good resistance to ISO solvents, dilute acids and detergents. Self-extinguishing. Maintains properties between temp. range of -25ºC to 110ºC. Good resistance to ageing. |
Not resistant to most organic compounds, except alcohols. Average resistance to grease and hydro-carbonated solvents. |
ETHYLENE-PROPYLENE |
EPDM |
one of the most versatile synthetic rubbers. Excellent weathering behaviour. It also maintains its colour. Good abrasion resistance. Low water absorption. Electrical insulator. |
Does not allow adhesion. Not suitable for contact with grease, oils, petrol and hydro-carbonated solvents. |
BUTYL |
IIR |
Excellent impermeability to gases. Very good weathering behaviour. Very flexible. Maintains properties between temp. range. -45ºC to 120ºC. |
Moderate resistance to abrasion and deformation. Flammable, combustible. |
